The City of Longview last week received a nearly $3.1 million grant to reconstruct 46th Avenue from Olympia Way to Ocean Beach Highway.

The project also will replace the existing 46th Avenue bridge over the Longview diking district’s cutoff slough. Existing water and sewer lines will be replaced, according to a press release.

Construction will include adding curbs, gutters, sidewalks and bike lanes. The street will be lowered slightly to eliminate “hazardous slopes,” according to the release, and it will include a modern stormwater system.

The city previously received a $700,000 federal grant for the project.

The design phase of the project will begin in January. The city expects construction to be complete in 2022.
