Longview’s school-zone traffic cameras return to active duty Wednesday (Sept. 3) after a summer shutdown.
The photo enforcement cameras are located at Mark Morris High School and at Mint Valley, Columbia Valley Gardens, Olympic, St. Helens and Kessler elementary schools.
Speed limits in school zones are 20 mph. Signs alerting motorists to the presence of the cameras have been replaced. There will be no other warnings before the cameras are reactivated, according to police.
Since the start of school-zone photo enforcement program in 2011, 17,534 tickets have been issued. The location recording the highest number of violations in 2014 was at Mark Morris, where 3,258 tickets were issued.
