The driver of a Kelso school bus that swerved off 13th Avenue Tuesday morning was avoiding an oncoming car in the bus’s lane, the Kelso School District told The Daily News Wednesday.
No one besides the bus driver was aboard the bus at the time. Scott Westlund, CFO of the Kelso School District, could not confirm whether the driver was injured.
The mishap occurred near the Foster Farms chicken plant. Westlund said there was no damage to the bus, and Washington State Patrol confirmed the incident was not significant enough to make a report.
Northbound traffic was blocked briefly while the Kelso Police Department and WSP responded.
