The Kelso Police Department is partnering with the Kelso City Council to close the door on drugs and crime in the area during the National Night Out on Aug. 6.
Officials are asking community members to “lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening in Tam O’Shanter Park with neighbors and police,” according to a Kelso Police press release.
This year is the 36th annual National Night Out, a crime prevention event that takes place in all 50 states. More than 15,000 communities help involve more than 37 million people to promote police-community partnerships, according to the press release.
In Kelso, National Night Out will take place from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
