A Kelso man already slated for trial on May 21 for allegedly threatening to kill his roommates with a baseball bat was arrested earlier this month on suspicion of possessing hundreds of sexually explicit images of minors.

Kevin Neil Vaillencourt, 55, of Kelso is now held on an aggregate $75,000 bail for a total of 17 felony charges spanning assault, threats to kill, and possession of child porn.

In September and early October, Kelso police received a tip that accounts associated with Vaillencourt, 55, had uploaded sexually explicit photos of minors to Instagram and Facebook, according to court documents. Vaillencourt, a level 3 registered sex offender (the most likely to reoffend), has previously been convicted of four counts of first-degree child molestation.

Just days later, on Oct. 5, Kelso police were dispatched to a report that Vaillencourt was yelling about killing his roommates, had broken a back window to their home with a baseball bat and was kicking in the back door.

A witness told police that Vaillencourt screamed, “I’m gonna f—————— kill you. Let me in. I’m gonna kill you,” court documents said.

Officers arrested Vaillencourt, who had armed himself with a pocket knife. He told officers that he was going to “take them out” and that he was “ready to kill right now.”

He added that, “Once I’m out, I’m going to take them out,” which he clarified as meaning he intended to evict them from the house.

As that case unfolded, officers obtained search warrants for Vaillencourt’s social media accounts and physical address, according to court documents. On a cell phone, computer and social media, officers found hundreds of explicit images and videos of children who ranged in age from infants to teenagers. Police say they also found “selfie” photos and videos of Vaillencourt.

A detective reported there were more than 500 images on Vaillencourt’s cell phone alone which would constitute first-degree possession of child pornography, according to court documents.

Vaillencourt was in jail already on May 1 when officers booked him on suspicion of the child pornography charges. In a court appearance on May 6, Vaillencourt’s bail was upped from $50,000 to $75,000. He remains in the Cowlitz County jail.

Vaillencourt now faces two charges of first-degree dealing in child pornography; nine charges of first-degree possession of child pornography; and two counts of second-degree possession of child pornography. He will enter a plea on Tuesday.

His assault case, in which he faces two charges of second- degree assault (domestic violence) and two charges of felony harassment (domestic violence), is set for trial on May 21.
