Kalama River Road, which was blocked at Milepost 10 by a flood-related landslide, reopened Wednesday at 4:45 p.m, according to Cowlitz public works spokesman Mark Koelsch, meaning all county roads affected by flooding caused by the Monday night/Tuesday morning rainstorm are now open.
Additionally, Kalama reported Wednesday morning that its water treatment plant has resumed production and that the city had lifted its water conservation warning.
The rainstorm and weather emergency is “obviously the biggest of the year so far,” Koelsch said, although “it’s not unusual for something like this to occur.”
Cowlitz County public works crews were unplugging and inspecting culverts Wednesday to see if they had been damaged by floodwaters, Koelsch said.
