A Kalama Navy veteran recently won half of a $5.1 million Washington Lotto jackpot, according to the Washington Lottery Commission.
The vet, who chose to remain anonymous, bought one of the winning tickets at the Kalama Chevron on Nov. 3. The other winning ticket was purchased in Spokane, but that ticket holder has not claimed their share of the prize yet, according to lottery spokeswoman Kiley Foland.
The Kalama Navy veteran, according to a press release, said that he celebrated with a steak dinner with his wife. He indicated he might invest in a new boat, according to the release, but said his plans don’t necessarily include travel.
“I spent eight years in the Navy in the 1960s, with a lot of different assignments off the coast of Vietnam,” he said, according to the release. “I’m not much of a trip-taker anymore.”
The amount of winnings collected after taxes was not immediately available.
