This Friday is the early deadline for community organizations, vendors and food booths to register for the Ethnic Support Council’s 29th annual International Festival, which takes place June 1 at the Lower Columbia College Student Center.
The festival, co-sponsored by the Associated Students of LCC, will be held 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Multicultural entertainment is scheduled at the start of each hour. Most performances will be inside, but a couple will be held outside the student center near the pavilion, where the food booths set up. Admission is free, but donations are welcome.
International Festival organizer Cindy Lopez Werth said organizations, vendors and food booths that register early can save money. All registration rates double after the early deadline. The final date for acceptance of registration will be Monday, May 7.
“The food vendors who register and pay by the early deadline really benefit the most because the day of the festival we refund their $25 registration fee plus give them an additional $25. That means they are getting $50 from us the day of the festival,” Werth said. “It’s our way of helping defray the health department fees food vendors must pay.”
The International Festival is a family event held each year to celebrate the community’s growing diversity through multicultural entertainment, children’s activities, ethnic food booths, “world market” vendors and community information tables.
Registration packets are available at the Ethnic Support Council office at 311 Oak St. in Kelso between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays and week days at the LCC Student Services office on the first floor of the student center.
