A house fire displaced a Kelso family of five Friday morning.

Cowlitz 2 Fire & Rescue and Longview fire crews responded at 9:40 a.m. to a report of smoke coming from the eves of a single-story home in the 800 block of Kiltie Place, according to a press release from Cowlitz 2. 

Firefighters knocked the fire down in nine minutes and it was fully extinguished by 11:30 a.m. Fire officials estimate $30,000 in damages to the home and its contents.

The family will receive shelter and other assistance from the American Red Cross. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No injuries were reported. 

While on the scene at Kiltie Place,  firefighters were also dispatched for a possible fire at the Econo Lodge Motel on 505 North Pacific Ave in Kelso. The fire was contained to an electrical outlet and was put out quickly.
