Violet Lane fire

Cowlitz 2 Fire & Rescue and Wahkiakum County fire officials extinguished a blaze on Violet Lane in Longview early Monday morning.

A structure fire early Monday morning destroyed an unoccupied Longview home, according to fire officials. 

After a glow was reported near the Willow Grove boat launch at about 4 a.m. Monday, fire fighters discovered a structure fire on the 100 block Violet Lane in Longview. Officials used two fire engines and trucked in water to extinguish the blaze. Fire officials said the home appeared to be in the process of remodel.

The tax assessed value of the home is listed at $167,000 and is considered to be a total loss, according to fire officials. The flames damaged a utility trailer and truck, and also destroyed a nearby 30-foot motorhome.The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

No one was inside the home when the fires started and no other injuries were reported, according to Cowlitz 2 Fire and Rescue.
