Neighbors in Need, The Daily News’ holiday season drive to help feed the needy, has reached nearly $48,942.
The fundraiser, which started Thanksgiving and ended on New Years Day, benefits St. Vincent De Paul and the Longview Salvation Army.
Donations to this year’s drive means the effort has raised about $1.39 million since its inception in 1987. TDN covers all overhead and administrative costs, so every penny raised goes to the charities.
This year’s NIN goal was $60,000. This year’s donations are a little short of average — about $52,000 during the previous seven years.
