Investigators are still looking into the drowning death of a Clatskanie man Thursday night, according to a press release Monday from the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.

New information reveals that deputies were dispatched to a missing person call on River Front Road at about 8:24 p.m. Thursday night, where they searched with the Clatskanie Fire Department and Rainier and Oregon state police. A body was spotted at 8:50 p.m. in the Clatskanie river and was pulled out.

The body was later identified as 70-year-old William Stout, a Clatskanie man last seen around 7:30 p.m. that night. He was determined to have drowned.

Stout was said to have “some medical conditions,” the release said, but investigators have not confirmed whether they played a role in his death.
