The Cowlitz County Sheriff's Office Thursday arrested a second man suspected of murdering a Woodland man in 2016.

Kristopher Hoyt, 27, of Woodland was picked up by detectives from prison in Monroe, Wash., and was booked into the Cowlitz County Jail on suspicion of first-degree murder.

This arrest comes after sheriff's deputies arrested Dustin Alan Griffin, 39, in Vancouver on Monday on suspicion of first-degree murder.

Cowlitz County Chief Criminal Deputy Charlie Rosenzweig told The Daily News on Tuesday that investigators suspect Griffin and Hoyt entered 62-year-old Donald William Howard's home on Dahlia Street in Woodland with the intention of robbing him.

Howard was found dead in his home after firefighters were called in to put out a fire reported in the early morning hours of Nov. 22, 2016.

The case is an active investigation.
