Cowlitz County unemployment dropped slightly in April, but it was still higher than the same time last year, according to the state Employment Security Department.
About 6.2 percent of Cowlitz County residents were unemployed in April, according to preliminary numbers from the Employment Security Department. In March, 6.7 percent of residents were unemployed.
Nearly 2,900 residents were unemployed, which is about 150 more than April 2017, according to a press release.
In the past year, nonfarm employment has added about 500 jobs, according to the Employment Security.
