Cowlitz County commissioners Tuesday extended a contract with a Vancouver-based firm for solid waste engineering services primarily for the Headquarters Landfill.
The one-year extension to the county’s agreement with Maul Foster Alongi, Inc. is not to exceed $200,000. Shawn Roewe, public works finance manager, said the firm provides waste acceptance services, quality assurance, guidance on the solid waste management plan and mapping of the Headquarters Landfill.
The commissioners also approved a $48,000 change order, bringing a contract with Lakeside Industries for the 2019 Countywide Pavement Overlay Project to $1.7 million.

County Engineer Susan Eugenis said the change order includes increased costs from adding overlay areas and re-mobilizing crews.
In other business, the commissioners approved two one-year contracts for plan review services. Townzen and Associates provide residential plan review and West Coast Code Consultants provide commercial and industrial plan review as needed, said Elaine Placido, community services director.
The companies receive half of the plan review fee, which varies for each project, she said. For an expedited review, the companies receive all of the fee.
