The Castle Rock Fair has endured the eruption of Mount St. Helens, multiple floods and other calamities, but it’s returning next week for its 60th year.

The fair takes place July 19 through July 21 and starts with the parade in downtown Castle Rock at 6:30 p.m. July 19 (Thursday). Marchers and vehicles will start at Castle Rock Elementary School, wind through downtown and complete the parade at Castle Rock Middle School.

Admission prices for children and seniors on Thursday is $1, and $2 for adults 15 and over. Friday and Saturday admission cost $2 for children and $3 for adults and seniors. Three day passes range from $4 to $7 depending on age.

According to fair planning member Yvonne Knuth, there is new lighting in the barns, a new roof on the swine building, and new paneling on other barns.

“We’ve done a lot of improvements in the last year. It’s very exciting,” Knuth said.

Each night will have live music, including the return of the Baird Creek band. There will be two new musical performances, Cooper’s Money band and Miller Campbell. Magicians John London and Richard Green will also perform.

Balloon animals, arcade games, bowman shooting, pony rides, food booths, and crafts are other activities for fair attendees to take part in.

The fairgrounds are on State Route 411 (West Side Highway), at 120 Firlane Rd, in Castle Rock.
