Incumbent fire commissioners Jeff Cameron and Thomas Baltazar thwarted challenges to their seats at the Cowlitz 2 and 3 fire protection districts in Tuesday's general election.
In the Cowlitz 2 general election, Cameron faced community organizer Patrick Ryan, who touted his volunteering and award-winning organizing of Stone Soup, a meals for the homeless program. Ryan and primary challenger L D Smith said they were running to save taxpayer money.
Cameron had 78% of the vote Wednesday night, with 4,076 votes in his favor. Ryan had earned 1,121 votes.

At Cowlitz 3, Baltazar faced two experienced firefighters with rafts of ideas to improve the agency: Curtis Dorcheus and Jakob Smith, who was narrowly edged out in the primary.
Baltazar retained his seat with 65% of the vote Tuesday night, earning 478 votes to Dorcheus' 249.
