The National Weather Service announced a flood watch for Northwest Oregon and Southwest Washington until Tuesday night.
Only minor flooding is predicted, but areas near rivers and at lower elevations are most likely to be impacted, according to the watch. The area is expected to get between one and four inches of rain Monday through Tuesday night, which could cause streams and rivers to rise.
The alert advises that people living near steep slopes should closely monitor the weather Monday and Tuesday, as landslides or debris flows are also possible.
Melting snow from the weekend could also be a factor, according to the alert. Snow is still uncertain for Tuesday morning. The weather service announced a winter weather watch early Monday morning but canceled it later in the day.
