ASTORIA, Ore. — Former state Rep. Jackie Taylor, a political veteran of the north coast and a tribal leader, has died. She was 73.
Taylor was a Democrat who served in the Legislature during most of the 1990s. She also was a Clatsop County commissioner and a leader in the Potawatomi Indian tribe.
Taylor retired from state government service in 2000 because of term-limit laws.
Astoria Mayor Willis Van Dusen called her “a tremendous part of our community.”
Taylor died Tuesday in Astoria after a battle with cancer.
