No one was injured early Saturday after a boat on a trailer burned up in a fire in Longview, authorities said.
A family in the 4000 block of Ohio Street was awakened by a neighbor who banged on the side of their home around 3 a.m. Saturday as the fire threatened to spread from the boat to the nearby house.
Firefighters from Cowlitz 2 Fire Rescue and the Longview Fire Department arrived to find the boat — a 1976 18-foot-long Marlin — engulfed in flames. The boat was destroyed, according to a written statement issued by Cowlitz 2. The home was largely undamaged, although radiant heat damaged some siding. A nearby car also had minor heat damage.
Investigators said the fire was likely accidental and was caused by the ignition and electrical system.
The names of the family members were not released.
