Local students win art awards

Eleven local student artists are among the Southwest Washington student artists recognized recently for their outstanding artwork at the 2018 Southwest Washington Regional High School Art Show sponsored and hosted by Educational Service District 112.

Students from Kelso, Mark Morris, Wahkiakum and Woodland high schools were honored for their works of art.

The art show, in its 46th year, received 229 entries from high school students.

Sixteen pieces, including three by local artists, received Regional Awards and will compete against entries from around Washington state in the Annual State Superintendent of Public Instruction Art Show in Olympia on April 19.

The Kelso Jazz Combo will play at the awards ceremony. Members are Isaac Ford, Tristan Dombrowsky, Brenden Kazensky, Reagan Nguyen and Joshua Dailey.

Several students received scholarship awards from Central Washington University including two local students.
