The following summer camps are sponsored by the Longview Parks and Recreation department. Registration is accepted weekdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Parks and Rec office, 2920 Douglas St., Longview; or online at www.mylongview.com/reconline.

Discovery Camp — Pop Stardom!: 9 a.m.-noon Monday-Friday, July 29-Aug. 2, Elks Memorial Building, 2121 Kessler Blvd., Longview; ages 9-12. Become a pop video star. At this camp, participants will be able to record a song, prepare for a photo shoot and make a video. Video will be recorded and participants’ “albums” released the last day of camp. Students will be the lead singer in their own videos and backup singers for the other students’ videos. Premiere party on Aug. 2 a half-hour before the end of the camp session. Taught by professional director/actress/playwright Valory Lawrence from Portland. $50 per person for residents, $55 per person for non-residents.

Discovery Camp — Shark Tank: 1-4 p.m. Monday-Friday, July 29-Aug. 2, Elks Memorial Building, 2121 Kessler Blvd., Longview; ages 9-12. Summer camp designed to teach children the fundamentals of building a company from scratch. Instructor Natasha Kreitzer. $50 per person for residents, $55 per person for non-residents.

Discovery Camp — Arrgh Matey! Pirates and Pixies: 1-4 p.m. Monday-Friday, July 29-Aug. 2, Elks Memorial Building, 2121 Kessler Blvd., Longview; ages 6-8. Time for children’s imaginations to run wild. Pirate and Pixie themed games, arts and crafts, snacks and more. If children have pirate or pixie costumes, they can bring them to camp. Instructor Shelly Aldrich. $50 per person for residents; $55 per person for non-residents.

Discovery Camp — Fun, Songs, Games and Gummy Worms: 1-4 p.m. Monday-Friday, July 29-Aug. 2, Elks Memorial Building, 2121 Kessler Blvd., Longview; ages 6-8. Learn songs to sing around the “campfire,” learn skits, create crafts, participate in collecting life skill badges: Firm and Friendly Handshakes, Loud and Clear Self-Introductions, Kindness, Excellent Joke Teller, Skit Star, Song Bird, Please and Thank You, Table Manners, How to Eat Gummy Worms and more. Family and friends invited to final “campfire” a half-hour before the end of camp on Aug. 2. Taught by professional director/actress/playwright Valory Lawrence of Portland. $50 per person residents, $55 per person non-residents.

Discovery Camp — Knights and Princesses: 9 am.-noon Monday-Friday, July 29-Aug. 2, Elks Memorial Building, 2121 Kessler Blvd., Longview; ages 6-8. Imagine being a knight or a princess and designing a castle. Each day campers will dive into a magical world filled with their favorite fairy tales with enchanting games, explorations, crafts and fun. Instructor Shelly Aldrich. $50 per person residents, $55 per person non-residents.
