Halloween Spooktacular Free Trick-or-Treating: 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31; dress up, trick-or-treat and play some Halloween games. Volunteers needed. People interested in volunteering are asked to call the Y.
Grandparents/Grandchildren Ball: 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, Monticello Hotel ballroom, 1705 Louisiana St., Longview; dancing, refreshments, raffle drawings with three grand prizes (such as a two-night stay at the Seashore Inn in Seaside, Ore.; a two-night stay at the Chautauqua Lodge in Long Beach; and a Portland Spirit cruise package. Actual packages still to be determined) and other prizes; each family receives a raffle ticket with entrance fee, additional tickets are $1 each; photos available through Bell Studios; space limited, buy tickets early; $30 per family up to five people, $35 per family of six or more people; if wait to buy tickets at the door, the price goes up by $5 if there are tickets available; each family will receive a raffle ticket with the entrance fee, additional raffle tickets are $1 each; money raised supports the GoodTymes program for adults and teens with special needs.

Swimming Lessons: registration is open for fall classes; two 30-minute lessons per week for four weeks wither on Mondays/Wednesdays or Tuesdays/Thursdays; morning lessons for children 3 to 5 years old, afternoon lessons for all ages; sessions begin in October and November; classes for toddlers six months to 3 years old with a parent in the water also offered mornings and afternoons; call for information.
Tumbleweeds Preschool: openings available Tuesday and Thursday mornings and afternoons as well as Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons; the program “enhances the mental and physical development of children and gets them ready for kindergarten,” notes a press release; monthly fees include weekly swimming lesson with YMCA aquatic staff; call for details.
