The first event at the new Naselle Community Center (the former Congregational Church that was gifted to the Naselle Finn Fest group) is the Naselle Finnish American Folk Festival starting at 5 p.m. Saturday.

The center is located at 14 Parpala Road, Naselle.

Featured will be Carl Wirkkala, country songwriter and musician; vocalist Richard Ellis; professional violinist Kim Angelis; folk singer Gene Quilhaugh; and Lydia Ballif playing the piano.

Local fares and ethnic foods will be available in the area downstairs after the concert.

Donations will be accepted at the door. Money raised will be used to upgrade the building and sound system. Plans are for a stage to be built to host plays and concerts.

In other news, a Meet the Artist Day with professional and new artists displaying and selling their wares takes place from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 30, at the Community Center.

The public is invited to both events.
