A concert featuring a Finnish pianist takes place starting at 6 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Rosburg Valley Bible Church, 4723 WA-4, Rosburg, Wash.
Members of the Finnish Festival association have booked Ruusamari Teppo, the great-great-granddaughter of Sibelius, a Finnish composer is traveling from Finland thanks to a grant from the Finlandia Foundation and a donation from one of the area’s Finnish community members.
Teppo will perform many of the Sibelius works, including some of his unpublished early chamber works according to information submitted to The Daily News.
Teppo was a coordinator for the Fourth International Jean Sibelius Conference held in Denton, Texas. She has performed as a soloist and as a chamber musician in the United States, Italy, France, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Germany, Belgium, Finland, Estonia and South Africa.
She won the second prize in the Petroff Piano competition in San Antonio in March 2008. She also has performed at several festivals, for radio and television in the U.S. and Finland.

Currently, she is the pianist for the University of North Texas Symphony Orchestra and the Richardson Symphony.
Finnish pastries and delicacies will be served after the concert.
Donations will be accepted at the door with the money raised going toward maintenance and upgrades for the Finn Fest Naselle Community Center.
