Several classes for children and adults are offered through The Broadway Gallery, 1418 Commerce Ave., Longview.

Art scholarships are available for students 7 to 18 years old who are interested in art classes and who are otherwise unable to afford the classes. Forms are available at the gallery or by emailing Susan at email@example.com.
Acrylic Painting for Adults: 10 a.m.-noon Mondays, Nov. 4, 18, 25 and Dec. 2 (Session 2); ages high school through adult. Broaden knowledge of colors. Learn to successfully work with acrylic paint and create watercolor effects. Supplies provided. Wear clothes that can get paint on them. If can’t make a lesson, call instructor Scott McRae to schedule a make-up class.
Beginning Painting: 1-3 p.m. Thursdays through Nov. 7, adults.; all skill levels. Learn to paint and mix colors. No experience or materials required. Learn some techniques in painting a landscape complete with a sky and lake reflection. Instructor Susy Halverson. Class size limited to 1-7 students. $12 if use own pains, $15 if use instructor’s paints.
Children and Painting: 4-5 p.m. Tuesdays, Nov. 12, 19, 26 and Dec. 10 (Session 2); ages 7-12. Learn to mix colors. In each class, students will look to objects to get their ideas to paint. Students will paint on several different types of surfaces. As their confidence grows, they can learn to paint expressively. Wear clothes that can get paint on them. Call instructor Scott McRae ahead of time if can’t make a class to schedule a make-up class. All supplies included. Limited to 1-6 students per class. $60 for a four-class session.
Small Acrylic Painting: 5:30-7 p.m. Tuesdays, Nov. 12-26; ages 16 and older. Each session features a different subject that can be completde in 1.5 hours. Whether having worked with acrylics or not, students will learn new techniques that will help them throughout the course. Drawing skills are a plus, but not required. All supplies provided. Instructor Beth Bailey. Class size limited to 3-8 students. $60.

Children’s Painting for Fun: 3-5 pm. Thursdays through Nov. 13, ages 8 and older. Instructor Susy Halverson gives each student fun experiences with water clean up oil paint at his or own level. She guides them in their desired subject while gently challenging them toward learning the joy of art. Class size limited to 1-7 students. $15.
Oil Painting for Enrichment: 1-3 p.m. Wednesdays through Nov. 13; ages 8 through adult; all skill levels. A canvas up to 18x24 inches will be supplied for all students. Use own paints or use instructor Susy Halverson’s paints.Low odor, water mixable oil paints are used in the class that clean up with soap and water. Learn new techniques. Halverson specializes in landscapes and waterscapes, but students can paint what they want with guidance. Class size limited to 1-7 students. $12 if use own paints, $15 if use instructor’s paints.
Clay: Advanced Clay Class: noon-2 p.m. Thursdays, Nov. 21 and Dec. 12; adults; beginning class required or permission of instructor. Explore techniques and processes beyond the beginning class. Make one project: another pond, a wall hanging, a tray, a bowl or something of student’s choosing, using same techniques as in the beginning class or add to knowledge by making handles, fingerpainting, using underglazes, porcelain dusting and more. Instructors Adrienne Stacey and Trudy Woods. Class size limited to 8 students. $75.
Gifting Workshop for Adults: 5:30-7 p.m. Dec. 9; ages 21 and older. Create a unique one-of-a-kind sign for display indoors or outdoors. Choose own special theme and decorations. All supplies provided, but students welcome to bring any special items they would like to add. Some light refreshments provided. Instructor Beth Bailey. Class size limited to 3-8 students. $25.
Gifting Workshop for Children: 5:30-7 p.m. Dec. 16; ages 10-16. Create a unique one-of-a-kind gift. All supplies provided, but students welcome to bring any special items they would like to add. Also bring a 3x5 or 4x6 photo of the person the gift will be going to. Some light refreshments provided. Instructor Beth Bailey. Class size limited to 3-8 students. $20.
Oil Painting: 3:30-5 p.m. Fridays, ages 7 through senior citizens; all skill levels. Oil painting class with a focus on animals, composition, anatomy and color. Specific focus showing how to create engaging composition and on animal anatomy of a chosen subject. If student has some experience with oil paints, the focus will be on teaching more about painting style and giving suggestions on new techniques students might try to improve their style. Novice students will start with the basics (this includes a drawing lesson combined with a painting class) and work up through several sessions until they feel more comfortable with the medium. The goal is to explore the paints and have the artist develop his or her own style while learning about the animals they are painting. $15 if use own supplies, $25 if use instructor Lorena Birk’s supplies.
