Hands-On Art for Children: 4-5 p.m. Tuesdays, Aug. 27, Sept, 10, 17 and 24; ages 7-14. Learn about drawing and painting through hands-on art activities that are simple and fun. Students can expect to do art activities from art history, such as mosaics, fresco painting and cave paintings on driftwood. Other projects are based on the processes of art including working with chalk, tempera paints and pencil. If unable to attend a class, give instructor Scott McRae 24-hour notice and he will arrange a make-up time. Wear clothes that can get paint on them. $60 per four classes, class size limited to 1-6 students.
Drawing Nature with Ink and Watercolor: 5-6 p.m. Sept. 9, 16 and 23; ages 15 to adult. Drawing experience suggested, but not required. Whether students have worked with watercolor and ink or not, they should enjoy the portability of the medium and the effects it produces. Students may want to make a journal of their travels or practice their skills. All supplies will be provided. Students may want to bring a 9x12 140-pound cold press watercolor pad. Strathmore is instructor Beth Bailey’s suggested brand. $50, class size limited to 3 to 8 students.
