Art scholarships are available for students 7 to 18 years old who are interested in art classes and who are otherwise unable to afford the classes. Forms are available at the gallery or by emailing Susan at email@example.com.
Walking Through the Color Wheel for Adults: 10 a.m.-noon Mondays, Nov. 19, 26, Dec. 10 and 17 (Session 2) ages 18 and older; 1-6 students per class; learn about the color wheel and tricks in using it that instructor Scott McRae found successful over the years; lean the very basics in using color and color mixing while not becoming overwhelmed; each lessons explores one color theory concept at a time so students can begin to feel confident in painting; acrylic paints will be used because of the versatility; $60 per session.
Drawing and Colors for Children: 4-5 p.m. Tuesdays, Nov. 20, 27, Dec. 11 and 18 (Session 2); ages 7-13; 1-6 students per class; brings together basic drawing skills and combines them with color theory (For example: students can learn how to draw animals while experimenting with various colors to bring the animals to life); perspective drawing can lend itself to light and dark colors; painting fruits can be connected to the primary colors; students use acrylic paints or other color materials as well as drawing materials such as pencil and charcoal; instructor Scott McRae; wear comfortable clothes that can get paint on them; if can’t make a class, call instructor to schedule a make-up lesson; $60 per session of four classes.
Oil Painting Techniques to Make You Great!: 1-5 p.m. (Students choose a two-hour time period for adults and a 1.5-hour time period for children 15 years old and younger.) Wednesdays, Nov. 22, 28, Dec. 5 and 12 (Session 2); ages 8 and older; 3-6 students per class; instructor Susy Halverson challenges students to grow while allowing them choices in subjects; learn by experiencing the concepts of perspective, color mixing, brush techniques and how to lay out a design; people who might have paintings they are working on, but got stuck or uninspired are invited to bring them to the class for assistance; water clean-up oil paints are used; $15 per day for students using the instructor’s paints and brushes, $12 per day for students who bring their own supplies.
Winter Wonderland Paint Party: 5:30-7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30; 3-7 students per class; no experience necessary; simple yet elegant watercolor painting using maskoid, sponges and brushes; develop a scene for self or someone else; an example will be on display at the Gallery by Nov. 8; instructor Beth Bailey; $35 fee includes all supplies as well as refreshments, seasonal music and finger foods.
Holiday Greeting Cards, Bags and Boxes: 5:30-7:30 p.m. Dec 8; 3-7 students per class; no experience necessary; make handmade cards, boxes and bags; make several of each; variety of methods used from stamping to painting and collage; bring own paper or special images if desired; $30 fee includes all materials, refreshments, music, light finger foods; bring own apron or use instructor’s plastic apron.
