Jan. 18, 1954—April 13, 2019
Wanda L McGlone, 65. of Rainier lost her battle with cancer with her family by her side April 13, 2019. She was born January 18, 1954, to Hershell and Helen Blaylock in Santa Maria, CA.
Wanda loved taking cruises, going to Maui, and trips to Reno with longtime friends, but most of all, Wanda loved to be in the presence of the people she loved. She lit up a room with her beautiful smile and was always the life of the party. Often referred to as “Good Time Wanda,” Wanda took pride in going to all of her kids’ and grandkids’ sporting events. She was the #1 fan in the stands, many people called her Grandma Wanda. She always took care of everyone around her, and she never met a stranger.
Wanda graduated from Rainier High in 1972. She married her high school sweetheart James McGlone May 19,1972, in Vancouver, WA. They have resided in Rainier, OR, the entirety of their marriage and have a divine love for the community. Wanda loved James with her whole heart, and took pride in her 47 years of marriage. Wanda worked for the Rainier School District for 28 years, and enjoyed each and every one of her students.
Survivors include her husband James McGlone, of Rainier; two children SuAnne McGlone (Tasia) and Jeff McGlone (Amie); four grandchildren Kylee, Gaven, Korbyn and MaKenna; great-grandson Hudson; two brothers Hershell Blaylock, William Blaylock; and sister Charlene Wilson. She was preceded in death by her mother Helen Blaylock (Caldwell) in 1997, her father Hershell Blaylock in 2012, and sister Rhonda.
Services are 1 p.m. April 22 at Rainier’s Alston Corner Assembly of God Church, 25272 Alston Rd. Wanda requested everyone wear their favorite sports jersey or T-shirt.
