Vernon Dillman

Dec. 12, 1933—Sept. 24, 2019

Vernon R. Dillman (Vern) was born in Snoqualmie, WA, to Russell and Maisey Dillman. He was the eldest of two boys. Vern passed peacefully in his sleep last week of congestive heart failure at Community Home Health & Hospice in Longview, WA. Vern chose to be cremated without a memorial service.

Vern moved his wife Carol Maureen “Hutchins” Dillman and their three young children to Longview from North Bend, WA. in 1962. Once in Longview, Vern operated Vern’s Arco full-service gas station for 13 years, followed by Vern’s Mobil and Vern’s Exxon. Vern retired in 1996 from Jacobson’s Chevron. Vern was always a highly respected auto-mechanic and trusted by loyal customers. His wife Carol and the mother of his kids died from cancer in 1995.

When young, Vern was an outdoor enthusiast. He enjoyed family gatherings. More recently he enjoyed taking his 66 Nova to car shows with his second wife Pam, going to the beach, and the serenity of his Koi pond. Vern was a member of the Elks and the Longview United Methodist Church.

Vern was preceeded in death by his parents Russell and Maisey Dillman, loving wife Carol Dillman and brother Norman Dillman. Vern will be lovingly remembered by his wife Pam and her daughter Julie Wilson at home; his son Richard (Loreen) Dillman; and daughters Patti Martin, and Barbara (Mike) Catt. Vern is also missed by his six grandchildren, Teresa Bonner, Amy Spurgeon, Skyler Dillman, Cameron Dillman, Mason Catt, Lauren Catt; and six great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Community Home Health & Hospice, 1035 11th Ave., PO Box 2067, Longview, WA, 98632.
