Sept. 3, 1936—March 29, 2019
Shirley Jean (Langworthy) Lowman, 82, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 29, 2019, at PeaceHealth in Longview. She was born Sept. 3, 1936, in LaCrosse, Wis., to Gaines and Vivian (Bentley) Langworthy. She was a graduate of Augusta High School in Augusta, Wis. Shirley married Lynn Lowman on April 7, 1958, in Fort Monmouth, N.J.
Shirley truly lived her life to the fullest through simple pleasures: her family, friends, volunteering and community were the most important things in her life. She loved her gardens, which extended throughout the town. Her influences, getting others involved and the way she made people feel special and needed was a special trait. Shirley was “the definition of selfless service.”
Shirley is survived by her husband Lynn; daughter Laurie (Scott) Merwin; sister Sharon Langworthy; brother Bert (Jan) Langworthy; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Other survivors include her grandsons and great-grandchildren Chris (Alicia) Merwin, Lilea and Alea, Mitchell (Brittany), Payton and Zoey, Kyle (Emily), Averie and Everett.
Preceding Shirley in death were her parents Gaines and Vivian Langworthy; son Dennis Lowman; and siblings Nevin, Harvey, Duane and Tom.
Family, friends and others whose lives Shirley touched are invited to the Kalama High School gym 548 China Garden Road, Kalama at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, for a Celebration of Life.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Envision Kalama, P.O. Box 1931, Kalama WA, 98625.
