Sept. 22, 1966 — Feb. 25, 2019
Sheldon Breyting Emerson (Breyting means “change” in Icelandic), also known as Shelley Renee Erdman, 52, of Longview passed away Feb. 25, 2019, at home.
Sheldon was born in Longview on Sept. 22, 1966, to Chuck and Sharon (Emerson) Erdman. As a young person Sheldon loved playing soccer, softball and basketball. His love of music began with a flute in Monticello Middle School and as he moved to R.A. Long his instrument of choice became the tuba.
Sheldon graduated from Eastern Oregon University with a degree in accounting. His love of mathematics is historic. He would do algebraic equations for entertainment. Sheldon was a wonderful teacher and tutor. He saved many young people, and adults, from the depths of math phobia with his gentle brilliant mind.
Sheldon was an employee of Peace Health for many years working in labor and delivery. His coworkers were his treasured friends. He loved greeting new life and the beauty of creation. Sheldon’s spirit was gentle, thoughtful, creative, and wacky. We, his biological family and his coworkers, will forever be looking around the corner for his infectious smile, laugh, amazing brain, and gentle spirit and soul that left us too soon.
He is survived by his parents, Chuck and Sharon Erdman; two brothers, Chris Erdman (Sandi), and Erik Erdman (Erin); his nieces and nephews, Jordan, Jana, and Cody Erdman and Aereyle Spring; and a great-niece, Avery Spring.
A memorial service is planned from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Mill City Grill, 1260 Commerce Ave., (first floor) in Longview.
For those wishing to honor Sheldon’s memory, charitable donations would be appreciated to Columbia Wellness, 921 14th Ave., Longview, WA 98632 or ccgacares.com.
