Lifelong local resident Ruth Norma Jessen, 91, was born in Silver Lake, Wash., and passed away at The Villager in Castle Rock.
On May 10, 1947, she married Robert W. “Bob” Jessen and became a homemaker. Ruth was a kind, generous and loving mother.
Ruth was a member of the Silver Lake Grange and enjoyed working outside with her flowers, mowing, spending time with family and friends, watching her children’s, grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s athletic events, and feeding the birds, squirrels and other wildlife.
She is survived by a son, Bob Jessen (Donna) of Longview; three daughters, Sherry Schwinn (Dean), and Judy Frandsen (Tim), both of Silver Lake, and Linda Greene of Vancouver; a sister, Mona Gardner of Castle Rock; a sister-in-law, Rosemary Chestnut (Lynn) of Toledo; her dear friends and neighbors, Dan and Maureen Schilter of Silver Lake; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Captain Nels F. and Eva M. (Wiig) Anderson; two brothers, Nels “Bud” Anderson and Eric Anderson; and her beloved husband Bob in 1992.
A celebration of Ruth’s life, including a potluck, is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday, March 30 at the Silver Lake Grange. Ruth’s sister-in-law, Pastor Rosemary Chestnut will officiate. Ruth will be laid to rest next to Bob during a private burial at Silver Lake Cemetery.
