Local resident Ruby Maxine Palin was born June 29, 1929, in Wenatchee, WA, the first child of Peter Michael Bakovich and Geraldine Lyons. They moved west and she grew up in the Seattle area. She was a graduate of Ballard High School, where she met Ted Palin at the age of 16. They were married on Dec. 30, 1948, and had 70 wonderful years together filled with hiking, skiing, tennis, fishing and travel. Ruby was a success at everything she did in life and enjoyed a rewarding career as a painting and decorating contractor in Seattle. Ted and Ruby moved to Longview in 1979. She loved her life here in Longview, she had retired and she made so many wonderful new friends in this beautiful city.

Ruby was preceded in death by her mother, father, sister Francis Bastian, son Michael and her stepmother Tina Kaski Bakovich. Ruby passed away peacefully at home on Sept. 2, 2019, surrounded by loving friends and family. She is survived by her husband Ted Palin, daughter Deborah Windus, son-in-law Scott Windus and grandson Chaz Windus.
She will be missed by everyone who knew her, she was an inspiration to us all and an example of living life to the fullest. Services for Ruby will be held at Longview Community Church on Oct. 5, 2019, at 11 a.m.
