Roy Gene “Fargo” Thompson died on July 8, 2019, at home. Roy is survived by his wife of 47 years, Esther (Treichel) Thompson; daughter Teresa (Thompson) Slighte; grandsons Adam Slighte and Dylan Blosl; brothers Jerry (Judy) Thompson, Duane (Sandy) Bergh, Bill Bergh, Lester Bergh and Mike Bergh; mother-in-law Eleanor Sartwell; brothers-in-law Paul (Anita) Treichel and Tom (Dee) Treichel; sisters-in-law Kathy (Larry) Greene and Lori Treichel; numerous nieces and nephews; and his good friend of many years, Dean Keith.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Irene Bergh; sister Polly McMichael; and father-in-law Gilford Treichel.
Roy was born on March 28, 1952, in Moorhead, MN. He grew up in Kindred, ND. He moved to Longview, where he graduated from R.A. Long High School in 1970, where he got his nickname, Fargo, and that is how many people know him.

He married Esther on Nov. 20, 1971. Roy worked at Reynolds in Longview for almost 30 years. Roy and Esther moved to Toledo, WA, in 1993, where he resided until his death.
Roy will be greatly missed and learning to live life without him will be difficult and challenging.
A Celebration of Life for Roy will be held on August 5, 2019, at 2 p.m., at the Cowlitz Prairie Grange: 5184 Jackson Hwy, Toledo, WA.
