Roy was born on April 15, 1932 to Harry Meikle and Stella Marie Irwin (Shantz) in Tacoma, WA. He graduated from Stadium High School, joined the Navy and worked in the shipyards at Bremerton. After leaving the Navy, he began working at the Tacoma Post Office. In 1983, Roy married Marilee (Krzmarzick), which came with an instant family including 3 step children (not sure he knew what he was getting into). He shared the next 34 years with his “best friend” on their farm in Goble and loved his new family/life.
Roy was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, uncle and grandfather. Roy was very kind, happy, honest, dependable, and all around “Nice Guy”!. Although he was reserved, he really enjoyed the excitement his wife Marilee brought to his life. Together they enjoyed golfing, bowling, softball, playing cards, time at their beach condos with friends & family, vacationing/golfing in Hawaii and family get-togethers. He will be greatly missed!!
Roy is survived by his step-children Dale (Lisa) Krzmarzick, Loree (Tim) Vandenberg and Sheree Weikum; grandchildren Becca (Tyler) Fairchild, Jeremy (Hayden) Weikum, Justin (Katelyn) Krzmarzick, Erika (Shane) Shaw, Jordyn (John), Grant & Blake Vandenberg and Mekenzee (Tyler) Weikum and 5 great grandchildren; his nieces and nephews Lynn (Richard) Williams, Penny (Michael) Morrissey, Krista (Colin) Scoli, Teri (Michael) Kennedy, Jay Irwin (Meredith) and Judy Irwin Summers (Harry’s wife), as well as 5 great nieces/nephews and 1 great-great niece. His was preceded in death by his wife Marilee, his parents, Harry and Stella Irwin, his older brother, Bruce Irwin and his youngest brother, Harry Irwin Jr.
