Rodney Arnold Larson
April 29, 1934 — July 22, 2018
Rodney Arnold Larson lived his 84 years in Rainier, Ore., in the home he built for his family overlooking the Columbia River. He continued to enjoy that view during his final weeks at home surrounded by his loving family.
Rodney was born on April 29th, 1934 and died on July 22nd, 2018 at Community Home Health Hospice Care Center in Longview. He retired from Longshoring after 35 years on the docks. He especially enjoyed his years working in the gear locker, first with Brady Stevedoring and then as the Lead Man for Jones Stevedoring.
Rodney enjoyed watching his children’s and grandchildren’s activities, family gatherings, clam digging on the Oregon Coast and bike riding. He was a lifelong Oregon Ducks and Oregon State Beavers fan. He was also a big Larry Bird Boston Celtics fan and later enjoyed watching Stephen Curry basketball games.
Rodney was preceded in death by his parents, Arne Larson and Smitty Behlau; and his sister, Shirley Alston.
Rodney leaves behind his loving wife of 63 years, Bobbie Larson of Rainier; his children, Julie Schroeder (Bill) of Lake Oswego, Ore., Terry Larson (Kathryn) of Alamo, Calif., Lori Larson (Babe Gregory) of Longview, and David Larson (Tammy) of Kalama; and his grandchildren, Rachel and Scott Pisapia, Christopher and Erica Schroder, Lindsey Larson, and Joriana Larson.
Rodney was a very hard worker and will be remembered for his love of family, his kind personality and his quick sense of humor.
A memorial service and luncheon is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18 at the Assembly of God, 25272 Alston Road Rainier, Oregon.
