Nov. 31, 1929—April 10, 2019
Richard A. McClure, husband of the late June McClure of Rainier, OR, passed away peacefully on April 10 at Longview Community Home Health and Hospice. Richard was born in Portland, OR, on Nov. 31, 1929, the son of John and Edna (Pauley) McClure. He grew up and lived in the Portland area, where he met his future wife June Burns. Richard and June were united in marriage in Seattle, WA, on Aug. 19, 1967. Over the course of the next six years, they adopted two daughters and moved to Raineir, OR.
Richard made a living logging and reforesting the property he owned in Rainier, as well as growing and harvesting Christmas trees on the family’s Christmas tree farm. He continued this work well into his early 80s. Richard loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He is lovingly remembered by his two daughters Maggie (Jason) McClure-Hannah, of Camas, WA, and Georgie Whittaker (Marty Farnsworth), of Rainier, OR; three grandsons Jordan McClure, Myles Whittaker and James Hannah; a granddaughter Elizabeth Hannah; sister Kathleen Thomas of Seattle, WA; brother Charles McClure, of Newberg, OR; and many other loving nieces, nephews and relatives. In addition to his wife June, he was preceded in death by his parents, a brother John McClure and a sister Mary Braun.
At Richard’s request, the celebration of his life will be a private event for immediate family only. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Home Health and Hospice or a charity of the donor’s choice.
