Nora Eileen Torppa
June 15, 1949—May 8, 2018
Nora Eileen Torppa of Longview, Wa., passed away peacefully May 8th, 2018 surrounded by family.
Nora was born in Vancouver B.C to John and Eileen Wescott on June 15th, 1949. At the age of 11, Nora immigrated to the United States with her family to support her father’s pursuit of his Doctorate in Education. Nora followed her father’s example and attended WSU to earn her degree in elementary education. She taught for the Kelso School District for over 20 years. Nora was known for her sense of humor, kindness, and thoughtfulness. She had the ability to make everyone around her laugh and smile.
After retirement Nora loved to read, cross-stitch, camp, watch sports, and spend time with her grandchildren.
Nora leaves behind her daughter, Carrie Boucher and son-in-law Mikal Boucher; her son, Cory Torppa and daughter in law Stacie Torppa; her three grandchildren, Mikalah Boucher, Caden Boucher, and Bailey Torppa; her sister Pat Rogge, brother-in-law Dennis; and her loving dog Sophie.
A celebration of life open house is planned for 9:30-11:00 a.m. on Saturday May 19th at The Longview Woman’s Club at 835 21st Avenue in Longview. Please come and enjoy a cup of coffee and some memories.
The family would like to personally thank Hospice and especially her sister Pat who was able to care for her during her illness.
