Nancy C. Owen, 84, of Castle Rock died Jan. 2, 2019, at the Hospice Care Center.
She was born in Wolf Creek, N.C., on Aug. 27, 1934, to John and Etta Shelton. Nancy received a basic education in a one room schoolhouse and was raised in the Baptist Church.
She married Bill Owen on Oct. 11, 1952. In 1961 they moved to Washington and lived in Cathlamet until 1992 when they moved to Toledo. In 1999 they settled in Castle Rock.
Nancy was a loving wife and mother, and will be remembered for her wonderful food, hospitality and gardening of all kinds. She enjoyed canning and crocheting and welcomed every child into her home.
She is survived by two sons, Butch Owen (Kari), and Nick Owen (Robin); two daughters, Elaine Morkert (Hank), and Tracy Tyrrell (Shawn); a brother, Buddy Shelton; four sisters, Christine Baity, Doris Jones, Loritha Shuler and Debra Wells; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bill in 2009; three son, Robert, David and Travis Owen; three brothers, Vernon, Stanford and Leo Shelton; a sister, Cleo; and a grandson, Joby Bjorge.
A funeral service is planned for 11 a.m. Friday at St. James Episcopal Church in Cathlamet with interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Cathlamet.
Donations in Nancy’s name may be made to the Hospice Care Center or a children’s charity of choice.
