Mel was a military veteran serving four years in the United States Air Force from 1955-1959. No matter where he traveled he always had the gift of talking to people as friends, never as strangers. Most of all he loved God first and his family. Mel was a descendant of Hispanic heritage born to Harley Eugene Dodge and Esparanza Lucrecia Carranza. Mel was one of eight siblings and over 100 extended family members who loved him dearly and will miss his smiles, feisty attitude and warm gentle embrace.
