Meghan Brianne Evans, beloved daughter of Linda (Powers) and Don Evans, passed away peacefully at Peacehealth St. John Medical Center on June 24, 2019, surrounded by family and friends. Meghan was born on Oct. 12, 1980, at Monticello Medical Center in Longview. Meghan’s love affair with Corvettes began shortly afterwards when she was brought home in a white 1977 Corvette coupe.

Meghan attended Longview Christian, Butler Acres, Coweeman Jr. High and Kelso High School, graduating with the class of 1999. While attending Kelso High, she was a 3-year member of the Kilties flag and dance teams, secretary of the Key Club, ASB Secretary, member of the honor society, member of the Universal Dance Assn. team that traveled to Paris to perform in Montmartre and in the New Year’s parade down the Champs Elysees, was invited to be a member of “Who’s Who of Graduating Seniors Class of 1999” and suffered the loss of her childhood home in the Aldercrest landslide. She obtained her AA from Lower Columbia College, attended the University of Portland and graduated from Washington State University Vancouver with a BA in Social Studies. Meghan was employed at Longview Fibre, the Emergency Support Shelter, Lower Columbia College, a wedding/event planner and recently was an independent Scentsy distributor and a designer/jewelry consultant for Origami Owl. Meghan was a member and several times past-secretary of Columbia River Corvettes, a member of Corvettes de Olympia, volunteered at the Community House on Broadway, the Children’s Justice and Advocacy Center, the Salvation Army Angel tree committee, current secretary of Cabaret Follies of Lower Columbia and sponsorship chair and team captain of the Breakfast Club for Relay for Life Cowlitz County.
Meghan had a zest for life. Her bubbly personality, beautiful smile and kind-hearted manner was attractive to all who met her. She was loyal, sensitive, fun-loving, compassionate and adventuresome. She loved meeting new people, sunny days, sunsets at the beach, Corvetting and road trips with her dad, animals (especially dogs), car shows, travel, New Orleans, collecting rocks and shells, boating, wine tasting, antiquing, Disneyland, second-hand clothes, time with her friends, concerts, dancing, getaways with “the girls,” music of all genres and her oil and charcoal paintings had won numerous blue ribbons at the local fair.
Meghan is survived by her parents in Kelso; her sister Jacquelyn and nephew Giovanni, in Wales; her niece, Hannan, with the military in North Carolina; her aunt Charlotte in Scottsdale, AZ; cousins Lindsey and Jason and family in Germantown, MD; Mike and Emma and family in Seattle; Sarah and Brent and family in Long Beach, CA; Ben and partner Mike in Renton; her adopted grandparents Peg and Fred “Babe” Johnson in Longview; “Aunt” Phyllis Harrison in Longview; and her current Bichon fur baby Chayse E. Bear at home. Meghan was preceded in death by her grandparents, Opal and Cliff Powers, grandmothers Della Gorrell and Ruby Evans, uncle (and fellow ginger) John Powers, uncle Richard Evans and fur babies Yuki and Maggie Mae.
