Sept. 8, 1938—May 7, 2019
Mary Wright, longtime resident of Longview, passed away peacefully May 7 surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born in Newport, OR, September 8, 1938, to Catherine and Alton Seits.
Mary attended Cascade Locks High School and later received her bachelors degree from Marylhurst University in social work. She proudly worked in the Supported Living Program, then the mental health unit of St. John Medical Center. Upon retiring, she could not rest and took a position with Independent Associates. Mary volunteered with CAP and received the Governors Volunteer Award for her dedication and amazing service. Up until one month ago, she continued to volunteer at VFW post 1045. Mary loved volunteering and helping our veterans.
Mary loved gardening, spending time with her grandchildren, and her beloved dog Shadow.
She will always be remembered by family and friends as a kind soul who would help anybody in need, expecting nothing in return.
Mary is survived by her children Melissa Wright, Michelle Setera (Tony), John Moore, Matthew Wright, Christine Edwards (Bruce) and Richard Moore; brother Keith Seits; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary has a special friend Neil Barnell who became much like a son to her. She was preceded in death by infant daughter Sonjia Moore, sons Raymond and Stephen Moore, and grandson Anthony Shane Setera.
Special thank you to Dr. Tyson Campbell, Dr. Kimberly Maur, and Dr. Brett Stacey for being so caring and attentive.
A celebration of life will be held on May 19 at Heron Pointe Recreation Center, 5818 Ocean Beach Highway beginning at 2 p.m. Mary loved potlucks and we would love for you to bring your favorite dish to share with family and friends.
In lieu of flowers please send donations to VFW post 1045, 4311 Ocean Beach Highway Longview, WA, 98632.
