Sept. 3, 1958 — Sept. 6, 2018
Lonnie Dwain Rogers was born Sept. 3, 1958, in Longview. He grew up in Rose Valley with his brothers and sister. He learned woodworking from his father, and became a skilled craftsman, building furniture and beautiful carvings.
Lonnie’s great love was his wife and children, and his large extended family. One of his more memorable trips was a canoe trip through British Columbia with his sons and brothers.
Lonnie was kind and generous, and helping many people along the way, expecting nothing in return. He was gentle and quiet, so it sometimes surprised folks when he would tell a hilarious story with a straight face and a twinkle in his eye.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Phyllis Rogers; and his sister, Carolyn (Rogers) Caldwell.
He is survived by wife Tracy and children, Job, Danny (Paige), and Emily; and brothers, Rick, Kevin, Steve, Randy, Ron and their families.
A service is planned for 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16 at the Journey Adventist Church, 1185 Westside Hwy., in Lexington.
