June (Leeder) Rose
June 20, 1924 — July 17, 2018
Beloved mother and grandmother June Rose, 94, of Longview, passed away July 17, 2018, at home.
She was born June 20, 1924, in Mitchell, S.D., to George and Rose Leeder. She graduated from Mitchell High School and moved to Washington from South Dakota 76 years ago, and attended the University of Washington. On July 21, 1951, she married Stanley B. Rose in Seattle.
June was a homemaker, a business woman and a philanthropist. When Stanley passed away June donated a million dollars to Lower Columbia College in his name, making The Rose Center for the Arts possible. June was named LCC Benefactor of the Year in 2012.
She was a member of the Thunderbird Country Club in Rancho Mirage, Calif., the Longview Country Club, the Washington Athletic Club and the Elks. She enjoy golfing, gardening, entertaining, jigsaw puzzles, playing cards, big band music and reading about World War II. June had a great sense of humor. She loved animals and adored her family.
June is survived by two daughters, Lori Lee Rose and Shaun Rose Fisher (Mike), both of Longview; three grandchildren, Kelsie Lee McWhoater of Vancouver, and Joseph Michael Fisher (Amanda), and Maxwell Stanley Fisher, both of Longview; and a great-granddaughter, Olivia Rose Fisher of Longview.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Bartley Devlin Stanley.
A celebration of June’s life will be announced at a later date.
