Joyce Marie Garner

Joyce was born in Sandpoint, Idaho, and graduated from St. Helens High School. She married her late husband, Jim Garner, and lived in Rose Valley where they raised their five kids.

Joyce was a homemaker as well as a seamstress for retail stores. She enjoyed making crafts for holiday bazaars, quilting, and crocheting. She was an avid history buff, especially World War II and enjoyed watching biographies and reading about it. She read a lot and could debate you on anything. She was a member of the Rose Valley Church and TOPPS.

She is survived by four children, Terry Basford, George Garner (Karen), Julie Degenstein (Lonnie), and Pam Sims (Randy); eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Joyce was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl Lucas (Jim); and a son-in-law, Jeff Basford. A funeral service is planned for 2 p.m. Saturday at Dahl-McVicker Funeral Home.
