James E. Grimes, 76, of Rainier passed away peacefully Jan. 18, 2019, at the Frontier Rehab and Care Center in Longview after a short battle with cancer.
He was born Aug. 27, 1942, in Uniontown, Pa., to William and Clarabelle (Holland) Grimes. He lived in Pennsylvania the early years of his life until making his way to Oregon where his brother George lived.
He was a member of the Eagles Lodge and the Rainier Senior Center, where he spent many hours donating his time to help others. He also collected quarters and was The Lawn Mower Repair Man.
Jim is survived by his special friend, Phyllis Cox of Clatskanie; a brother, Gifford in Pennsylvania; five children, Candy Coddington, Chris Grimes and Scott Grimes, all in Pennsylvania and Jimmy Grimes and Robert Grimes, both in Florida; and his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Irwin, George and Kenny; and a sister, Mildred.
A celebration of Jim’s life, including a potluck, is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday at the Rainier Senior Center.
