Helen Lawrence Ingledew

Helen Kathleen Thomas Ingledew of Longview died at the Hospice Care Center. She was born to Lee S. and Gladys M. (Roberts) Thomas in California’s Sacramento Valley. At the age of 9 she and her family moved to Kent, Wash. She married Fred J. Lawrence on June 15, 1946, in Kent. They raised five children while living in Seattle, Philadelphia, Pullman, Wash., and Portland. Helen then returned to school, graduating with a BA from Marylhurst College in 1984.

She married George Ingledew in Tualatin, Ore., March 29, 1992. He passed away in 2007. In 2012, Helen moved to Longview to be closer to her daughter, Lynnette Jackson. She lived at Canterbury Park, Canterbury Inn, La Fontaine Group Home and Somerset Assisted Living. The family is grateful to all these facilities for their tireless efforts.

Helen loved being a mom, but she also was at times a secretary, real estate agent and was always a hard worker. She loved to read, travel, teach and study history. She was loved by her family and friends. Helen was always a faithful friend. She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus, and looked forward to her heavenly home.

In addition to her husband George, Helen was preceded in death by a sister, Gertrude Fox; a brother, Bob Thomas; and a son, Steven Lawrence.

She is survived by a sister, Marion Blessing of Spokane; four children, Lynnette Jackson (Ken) of Longview, Gordon Lawrence of West Linn, Ore., David Lawrence (Tammy Stevens) of Oregon City, Ore., and Randall Lawrence (Jimmie) in Texas; five grandchildren, Corky Jackson (Michaela), Christy Zeilenga (Jon), Dustin Lawrence, Daniel Lawrence, Dylan Lawrence and Randall Lawrence; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service is planned for 3 p.m. Oct. 27 at Calvary Community Church in Longview with a reception to follow. Family and friend are welcome to pay their respects from 1 to 5 p.m. Oct 26 at Stehn Family Chapel in Milwaukie. Private burial will take place at Skyline Cemetery in Portland.
