Esther was born on the family farm in Devon, MT, to Miller and Lena Strom. After graduating from Shelby High School in 1941, Esther attended Lutheran Bible institute in Minneapolis, MN.
She moved out west in 1946 and began work at Weyerhaeuser as a keypunch operator. She married Milton Nordin July 29, 1950.
Their first son, Gary, was born in September of 1955. Phil joined the family in January of 1957.
In 1975, she partnered with her older sister Millie and bought a jewelry store, The Boutique. They successfully worked in the store until retirement in October of 1985.
Esther was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Sons of Norway and President of the Nordin Supper Club.
Esther is survived by her two boys, Gary and Philip; Gary’s wife Susan (her favorite daughter-in-law); and her treasured grandson, Erik. She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years; her parents; brothers Lawrence Strom and Roy Strom; and sisters Mildred Petersen and Bernice Grant.
A memorial service will be held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 2218 E. Kessler Blvd., Longview at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 10. Memorial contributions can be made to the Emmanuel Lutheran Church Fish Program to feed the hungry.
