Lifelong local resident Douglas L. South, 63, of Castle Rock passed away March 15, 2016, at home.
He was born Jan. 4, 1953, in Longview, and graduated from Mark Morris High School in 1971.
In 1972 he married Debra Serafine in Longview. They had a daughter, Tersa, and later divorced. Doug married Debra Higgins in Reno in 1992. They had a daughter, Taylor and a son, Cody.
Doug was a machine operator for Newark Paperboard in Longview before retiring due to illness. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, clam digging, barbecues, garage sale chauffeuring, and drives through the woods and to the coast. Doug was a kind, warmhearted person. His family and friends were very important to him.

Survivors include his wife, Debbie at home; his children, Tersa Maxwell of Marysville, Wash., and Taylor South and Cody South, both of Castle Rock; three grandchildren, Hillary Woodard of Castle Rock, Morgan Devlin of Marysville and Owen Woodard of Kent, Wash.; his mother, Jeanette South of Long Beach; four siblings, Jeff South (Ethyel) and Kaylie Davis (Dave), both of Longview, Kathy Sinnett (Randy) of San Diego, Calif., and his twin, Debbie South of Long Beach; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Doug was preceded in death by his father, Wallace South; and his two sisters, Audrey and Kellie.
A memorial service is planned for 4 p.m. Saturday at Father’s House Church, 1315 Commerce Ave., in Longview with a reception to follow.
